Who at AKD are eligible to take part in this scheme?
All AKD employees and other persons or entities structurally associated with AKD by means of a contract for six (6) months or longer in a permanent position (vaste formatieplaats) are eligible to take part in the home office facilities provision scheme. These persons, or entities, will hereinafter be referred to as the “Participants”. Please note that the following are not eligible: student trainees and temporary employees. Equity partners are eligible, but the scheme works differently for them.*

When is a new participant allowed to take part in the scheme?
Upon entering AKD's employ, new Participants receive an email inviting them to select and order home office facilities if they so want.

What facilities will be made available?
  • Desk chair
  • Four different sit/stand desks or an “updesk” a standing desk converter
  • Floor protector
  • Monitor, keyboard, mouse

Who owns the facilities provided?
The facilities are provided to Participants for use on loan. This means that the facilities are and remain the property of AKD.
When ordering, Participants are required to agree to a user agreement before the order can be placed.

What happens if any of the facilities suffers damage?
The costs of damage caused by negligence or deliberate actions will be charged to the participant concerned.

What happens if repairs are needed?
Participants can submit requests for repair directly to the supplier.
Upon expiry of the warranty period (30 years for desk chairs, 5 years for the other facilities) all repair costs are payable by AKD. In the event of negligence or deliberate damage inflicted by a participant, all costs of the repair are payable by the participant concerned.

In what circumstances will the facilities have to be returned?
The facilities will be collected from a participant's home upon termination of the relationship between AKD and the Participant. A collection date and time will be arranged in direct contact with the supplier.
Participants are at all times responsible for returning the facilities to the supplier in a good state and condition (normal wear and tear excepted).
AKD reserves the right, for reasons of its own, to repossess at any time facilities provided on loan.

What happens in the event of long-term absence?
In the event of long-term absence of a participant, the relevant participant and their superior will confer to determine whether and, if so, when the facilities are to be returned.

If I move house, can I return the facilities and order another set?
If the facilities turn out not to fit in the new house, it is possible to exchange them.

Is it possible for Participants to acquire the facilities?
Yes, that is possible. A graduated scale applies, which is explained below. The percentage listed concerns the percentage of the purchase price plus shipping.
After 1 year up to 4 years                100%
After 4 years up to 7 years                75%
After 7 years up to 10 years              50%
After 10 years up to 13 years            25%
After 13 years                                      0%

What happens to the items after they are returned?
Facilities that are returned will be kept in storage and, if necessary, reconditioned by the supplier. This way, they will be ready to be provided on loan to new Participants. Participants must accept the use of these reconditioned facilities.

I'm using a chair that came from the office. Can I arrange for it to be returned there?
If you order a new desk chair, the supplier will collect the office chair you are using and make sure that it is returned to your workstation in the office.

What's the deal with the office laptops?
Colleagues are now working from home using laptops, Chromebooks and personal computers, either their own or AKD-issue.
In the first six months of 2021, everyone will receive a laptop for use on loan. This laptop can be used at the office and at home.

*Equity partners will be allowed to participate in the scheme, but the costs will be set off in their current accounts and ownership in the facilities ordered will transfer to the relevant partner's private company.
